Below is just a sample of the places that are in close proximity to Bandouille, some of which we will visit during your stay. The typical weekly schedule can be modified, so visits may be changed or extended, or you may wish to explore them on your own.

The Poitou Charentes region remains relatively undiscovered, and off the tourist beaten track. It is mostly unspoilt, tranquil and full of historic venues that are not overwhelmed and sadly ruined by mass tourism.

There is a wealth of history here, not only at Bandouille, but throughout the local area. History stretching back to Medieval times, reflected in the local "places of interest", from Troglodyte caves, to beautiful medieval towns and villages, like Parthenay and St. Loup sur Thouet. Chateaux ruins are everywhere, sadly a testament to the revolution, but some stunning examples of these splendid 17th Century monuments survive - the Chateaux in Thouars, St Loup sur Thouet and the fairytale beauty of Saumur castle, in the beautiful Loire Valley.
